From the Hip
Belgian Blonde with Rose Hips
Belgian Blonde, this was the first batch of Grimm beer ever made. We launched Grimm Artisanal Ales with this beer at a release party at Jimmy’s #43 in the East Village, July 2013. Ten years later, we’re bringing it back for batch #2. A succinct beer brewed with trappist yeast, Styrian Goldings hops, pilsner and wheat malts, and a whirlpool addition of rosehips, From The Hip exemplifies our vision of complex results through simple means. Rosehips are the fruit, not the flower, of the rose plant—bringing a pleasant impression of apple/pear that is complemented by cleanly expressive Belgian fermentation character. This throwback recipe showcases Grimm’s roots in drinkable European brewing methods, and reminds us what the American craft beer scene was like in the days before the haze craze.
