Gathering Tart Cherries and Blueberries

GATHERING TART CHERRIES AND BLUEBERRIES is a barrel aged sour that showcases the bounty of the summer’s harvest. Pouring a deep crimson color with purplish highlights, this stunner displays intense aromas of cherry pie and blueberry commingling with deftly balanced and complex wild ale characteristics. The palette shows a tartness that is just right to amplify the succulent fruit characteristics in this intensely fruit-forward sour. For the Gathering series, we use a “no rules” blending method that allows the team to blend anything in our extensive barrel library to complement the chosen fruits. For this one we selected a mix of well-chosen spontaneous and saison barrels as well as a single cask of dark sour ale. When combined with carbonically macerated whole local blueberries from Stoney Creek Farms and Montmorency cherries from Prospect Hill Orchards, the result is a wild ale of profound flavor.
