Patersbier
Quaffable Belgian-style ale
This “fathers’ beer” is the Trappist monks’ answer to pilsner – a delicate and pale euro-crusher, with a refreshing snap of floral hops. But unlike a lager, it’s fermented with the same expressive yeast used to brew Tripels and Dubbels, resulting in a beer of additional complexity from fruity esters and spicy phenols. A rare beer style, many patersbiers are not publicly sold, since the Trappists historically brew them exclusively for their own consumption. But this weekend we’re releasing a patersbier for all to enjoy. This year, Patersbier is one more reason it’s great to be a dad.
