Our most complex barleywine to date, PICTURES IN THE SAND is aged two years in two unique and special oak barrels. The star here is an oak barrel that previously contained amaro from January Spirits. Over the course of the extended oak residence, this barrel imparted unbelievable richness and complexity to our velvety award-winning base barleywine — a symphony of intense and rich spice, with notes of coffee, chicory, orange, cacao, cardamom, and so many more indescribable things. In order to complement this incredible barrel and brings its flavors into balance, we blended it with more barleywine from an exceptionally smooth barrel that previously contained W.L. Weller 12 Year Wheated Bourbon. The more closely you attend to the flavors and aromas, the more you will find in this richly layered glass.
