TAPROOM ASSISTANT MANAGER
The Taproom Assistant Manager is a core member of the leadership team, dedicated to upholding high service and quality standards across Grimm’s Taproom and Lala’s Pizzeria. This role bridges the gap between active floor supervision and essential behind-the-scenes administrative functions to ensure seamless business operations. Operating as a passionate and professional leader, the Taproom Assistant Manager applies a strong understanding of hospitality and business practices to support the flow of service and contribute to the success of the Grimm business.
Reports To: General Manager and Director of Hospitality Operations
Overall duties include (but are not limited to):
- Enhanced Floor Management & Service Quality

- Active Floor Presence: Act as the “eyes and ears” of the taproom, constantly circulating to ensure guest needs are met and service standards are upheld.
- Lead the daily physical setup and transition of production spaces into guest-ready seating areas.
- Actively monitor and adjust lighting, music levels, and playlists to match the taproom dynamic as the sun sets and volume shifts.
- Provide real-time coaching to bar and support staff (10–15 people) on pouring techniques, brand storytelling, and hospitality.
- Monitor guest alcohol consumption and ensure all local, state, and house rules regarding safety and over-service are strictly followed.
- Cleanliness Oversight: Ensure the taproom, pizzeria, and restrooms remain pristine throughout service by delegating or performing immediate cleaning tasks.
- Utilize exceptional patience to de-escalate customer or operational issues strategically and calmly.

- Operational Support & Administration

- Real-Time Labor Management: Monitor sales trends during shifts to make strategic staff cuts and optimize labor costs.
- Assist the GM with weekly cycle counts and coordinate with the warehouse to ensure product availability.
- Manage real-time updates to digital platforms (Untappd, BeerMenus, POS) and ensure physical menus are updated.
- Act as the first line of defense for POS hardware, sound systems, or minor facility repairs (e.g., light bulbs, door handles) during service.

- Assist General Manager on daily picking, packing, and processing of online Toast orders, ensuring customers are notified of any issues.
- Assist General Manager and Events Team by acting as the primary onsite point of contact for public activations and private event coordination, ensuring seamless service.

Requirements:
- 3+ years of experience in a fast paced, high volume restaurant or bar environment with at least 1+ years of bar/taproom managing experience
- A strong foundation in craft beer and a genuine hunger for continuing education within the industry.
- Analytical mindset with a solid understanding of business management practices and strategies to drive profitability.
- Strong computer skills, specifically with G Suite and Slack.
- Previous event management experience is ideal but not required.
- Ability to continuously stand, walk, and navigate stairs for the duration of a shift. As well as the ability to lift and/or move up to 160 lb. half-barrel kegs.
- Frequent bending, reaching, and pushing; ability to work in confined spaces and close quarters.
- Must be comfortable working in a variable-temperature brewery setting, including the 38ºF cold box.
- Full flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required by business volume.

- Flexibility to work within business operating hours
- Benefits include Paid Time Off, and staff discounts.
- Full-time hourly: $28 – $30
